Hung Tung’s Fantasy

2018 Hung Tung's Fantasy

Director: LIN Cheng-Tsung

Self-taught Taiwanese painter Hung Tung is famous for his fantastical representation of everyday Taiwanese life in the Sixties and Seventies. His vibrant colors and strong lines depict the burdens and desires at the depth of the human heart. Inspired by his works, this multimedia production captures his style, at once unpretentious, whimsical and futuristic. Contemporary circus meets puppetry, shadow play, gezaixi (Taiwanese opera) and electronic music, bringing Hung's paintings to life and connecting them to 21st-century Taiwan.

"We should paint what is inside us, and paint so that it makes us feel good." Hung Tung
