Hung Tung’s Fantasy (stage version)

2021 Hung Tung's Fantasy (stage version)

Taiwanese circus + aerial acrobatics + object and shadow theatre + electronic rock and opera music: a festive fantasy.

A festive play-world where childlike lines and colors paint a magical "fantasy park". Like tides and waves in a familiar wild nature, circus bodies dance, tumble and fly, turning the stage into a mind-world drawn as with a brush, the canvas of the legendary Taiwanese painter Hung Tung.

Invited to the Weiwuying opening season Circus Platform in 2018, then to the Mirabilia Festival in Italy in 2019 as the only Asian company. Stage version created in 2021 with the painter LEE Chun-Yang.

Premiere 30–31 October 2021, Taiwan Traditional Theatre Center, Main Hall.

Co-produced by Thunar Circus and the Taiwan Traditional Theatre Center, with creation support from Weiwuying and the Taipei Performing Arts Center.
